The importance of words
Posted in Blog by Kevin
Now, as an instrumental artist, you might think I have a dislike for words… actually, the opposite is true. I do find words to be cumbersome at times and it is all because of their power and my seeming inability to harness it.
Well, I was having a conversation with a friend the other day – we were discussing drum programming… this friend is named Doug Busbee and his musical endeavor is the amazingly cool Agent Cooper (www.agentcooper.com – check it out!)
Doug is a special friend to me cause he is so talented and we were super tight years back during a crucial musical development phase. So during our discussion he proceeded to tell me how cool he thought the drums were in my song “Suite P” (from the album Crux). He went into detail about the specific drum parts… and then it dawned on me that he had been listening to my CD. I mean, really listening…
So here was this guy I admire and respect telling me “job well done”. Hopefully everybody reading this can identify with that feeling… and us creative types languish without it! So here’s to Doug – and please – if you are thinking something like that about someone – tell them!
